This is the only time in my life I have felt compelled to respond a second time regarding any service performed. I sent an initial review of service recommedations made regarding my truck which included changing the front rod ends, shocks, coolant, brake fluid, transfer case lubricant and both differential lubricants last Wednesday. The list of repairs included: 1. shocks: outside was rusty but that does not relate to performance. There were no fluid leaks and no testing was done 2. Coolant:was already changed by you last year 3. Differential grease: was changed by Ford in September. 4. Brakes:were new in 2018 with new fluid. Your response to my initial review was that the technician accidentally checked the wrong box on the checklist. How many boxes? This was my second visit to your shop. I was pleased and returned but this time I just don't understand. I am not looking to post for a response. Just surprised and wanted to let you know. I though I had found a trustworthy place especially after talking about racing and cars.
Lee, thank you for helping to make Mezzio Auto and it's staff the best at what we do. The coolant flush recommendation was incorrect, a click on the wrong box in the digital inspection sheet was the cause. The recommendation for a brake fluid flush at 2 years and approx 30,000 miles since your last brake service is reasonable. A rusty shock as you point out does not directly indicate performance issues but it does indicate age and time. The considerable rust led us to recommend shocks, which on an F-350 that that we knew tows a race trailer, race car, and the support equipment necessary to compete does push the limits on the suspension and braking systems. The picture of the differential grease shows that it appeared dirty and our tech, based on the appearance, suggested the drain and refill. We could not have know that it had been done recently at the dealership and are surprised that the condition had deteriorated in that little time.
